While at a networking event last week, I overheard a buddy of mine talking to another group of people about how he's received more than 140 positive customer reviews across all his social media platforms.
"What? That's nuts!" I interjected. "How did you do it?"
My question was worth asking. After all, consumers don't typically post that many online reviews unless something goes wrong, right? The fact that he has more than 140 online advocates is impressive – especially since my company, Edit This, has 20.
Granted, he's been in business significantly longer than me. But still.
His answer: he does quality work and organically gets plenty of feedback. Secondly, he tips the review scales further in his favor by asking for them – in person, by email, by phone, through social media, by carrier pigeon, through a message in a bottle, etc.
Admittedly, asking someone to leave a review is one area I've always struggled with. But not anymore. I've been focusing on it a lot more this week as I meet with clients in person.
And now I've crafted a blog post about it. If you're a client or avid follower of Edit This, I'd be honored to receive a review from you.
