Happy Thanksgiving! We truly have so much to be thankful for, and I hope each of you takes at least a little time over the next day or so to express that gratitude. In fact, I want to challenge you to grab a notepad and pen and do it right now!
That's right – write down a list of everything you are thankful for, whether it be about work, life, family, health, or something in between. Remind yourself of these blessings!
Then share that list with your loved ones! You'll be surprised how long your list gets.
As we begin another holiday season, I am overwhelmed by how much I have to be thankful for. Not only do I have an amazing wife and kids and a growing community of friends who are there for me at every turn (and vice versa), but my parents recently moved up to North Texas from the Houston area. That means this will be the first Thanksgiving in God knows how long when my side of the family and my wife's side will be under the same roof!!
Leslie and I will host Thanksgiving this year, and the house will be loaded.
That's a great feeling.
What Am I Thankful For?
My family
My kids (I am so blessed to be a dad)
Having my parents here for the holidays and beyond
The health of my entire family
My career – I'm blessed to be a writer
That I can use my God-given talents to provide for my family
The people who came into my life this year
The love and support from my family
God, who has blessed me with so much
Everything new I've learned this year
Pain and the lessons we all learn from it
That my wife, Leslie, is doing what she enjoys at work
That my first book, Write Like You Mean It, is a success so far
That I have unconditional love in my life
That we live in a free country
Random bursts of inspiration
Spellcheck :)
That more people in this world are preaching forgiveness
More time to spend with my family
A lifetime of memories
It's not easy to focus on things we should be thankful for. Life isn't easy – we all go through so much every day and every year, and sometimes it can feel like we are constantly stuck in neutral. But I genuinely believe that there is always something to be thankful for.
What are you thankful for?
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
