WOW! Ten years in business, ladies and gents. I never thought this day would come. Actually, that's not true. I always knew this crazy idea to start a writing and editing business from scratch would somehow work – even with me behind the wheel. But now that it's here, I'm pinching myself and asking, "Is this real?"
Yes, it is absolutely REAL! Edit This® is 10 years old – TODAY (April 1).
Yes, I know it's also April Fools' Day.
But I prefer to look at it as my self-proclaimed Edit This Day!
Happy Anniversary to Edit This!
As is the case every year with this ceremonial blog post, I can't say thank you enough to every family member, friend, client, business partner, fellow writer, and everyone in between for their love and support as I continue to live and breathe my dream career!
I've been in the writing and editing industry for 26 years. I started my career in the newspaper world as a sportswriter and loved every bit of it. But I also wanted to experience everything the writer's life offered. So, I went out on my own and started writing about all types of stuff besides just sports. That was 10 years ago, and at the time, Edit This was a tiny, niche thing.
I wanted it to take off, and I believed it would. But I had no idea how.
All I knew was that I had no other choice but to make this work. And needless to say, this company has grown beyond my wildest dreams.
I have a growing list of clients who appreciate my work.
I get to be the storyteller I've always wanted to be.
I get to mentor young writers and connect with a community of veteran writers.
I wrote my first book, Write Like You Mean It: Mastering Your Passion For The Written Word, with help from an amazing publisher who believed in my manuscript.
I kick-started a new writing workshop series and consulting arm to Edit This to share my knowledge and help others chase their passion for the written word.
And that's just a short list of what's happened over the past 10 years. I have loved every bit of this journey, and I can't wait to see what the future brings!
Thank you for reading!
