Welcome to another Edit This® grammar lesson. In today's blog post, we will discuss Tailer vs. Tailor vs. Taylor. Do you know the difference between them?
Most people reading this might respond with a resounding "YES!" However, these are examples of homophones–words that sound the same but have different meanings and spellings. And they trip more people up than you might think.
Let's clear up any lingering confusion, shall we?
Tailer (with an "er" at the end) most commonly refers to someone or something that is in the act or was in the act of tailing or following you.
That car has been tailing us for an hour.
The investigator is great at being a tailer.
I used the busy intersection to lose the tailer.
Tailor (with an "or" at the end) is a person who makes, mends, or alters clothes. It can also be used to mean customizing or designing something for a specific purpose.

That suit jacket needs to be tailored.
Taylor is, you guessed it, a person's name. It's as simple as that.
Steve is not a Taylor Swift fan.
Taylor brought the cookies.
